Particle Size Distribution (PSD)

Balance Adsorption Rate, Screen Retention, and Hydraulic Performance

Particle size distribution affects adsorption kinetics, carbon movement, screen retention, and hydraulic behavior. Smaller particles generally provide shorter diffusion paths and faster adsorption, but excessive undersize material can increase the risk of carbon loss. Larger particles may be retained more easily but can adsorb more slowly.

A tightly controlled PSD is therefore more valuable than a broad distribution containing excessive oversize, undersize, or near-screen particles.

YICARB Approach: The AU Series is available in 5×10 and 6×12 mesh. The appropriate grade and mesh should be selected according to the recovery process, interstage screen aperture, solution flow, carbon transfer system, and operating priorities.
